How to Save Tweets for Inspiration Using the Chrome Extension
Last updated: April 17, 2026
The OpenTweet Chrome extension makes saving tweet inspiration effortless. Instead of screenshotting or copy-pasting tweets you find on X, a single click captures the full tweet with all its metadata for later repurposing.
How do I save a tweet?
With the OpenTweet Chrome extension installed and active, browse to any tweet on x.com. Look for the OpenTweet save button that appears on the tweet card. Click it — the tweet is saved instantly with a confirmation message. No manual data entry is required. The extension captures all tweet data automatically in the background.
What gets saved?
The extension saves the complete tweet: text, author name, username, avatar, verified status, publication date, tweet URL, any attached media, and engagement metrics (likes, retweets, replies, views). All data is stored in your OpenTweet Inspiration library under the 'From Extension' filter. OpenTweet automatically prevents duplicates — if a tweet is already in your library, saving it again won't create a second copy.
How do I view saved tweets?
Go to Inspiration in your OpenTweet dashboard. Use the 'From Extension' filter chip to show only tweets saved via the Chrome extension. Extension-saved tweets also display an 'Extension' badge on the card. You can view them alongside all other saved inspirations using the 'All' filter.
How do I repurpose saved tweets?
In the Inspiration library, click 'Repurpose' on any saved tweet to generate original content in your voice based on that tweet's theme and format. For bulk repurposing, select multiple tweets (up to 10) using the checkboxes and click 'Repurpose with AI'. The AI creates entirely new content — never copies the original text.
