Link Preview Checker for X, LinkedIn and Bluesky

This link preview checker shows the card your URL gets on X, LinkedIn and Bluesky side by side, then checks the Open Graph tags, the preview image and the redirects behind them.

How to check a link preview

Paste the URL below. The checker reads og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and the twitter: tags, downloads the image to confirm it loads and fits, and draws each platform's card. Fix whatever fails, check again, then refresh any platform that cached the old preview.

Your previews and the checks appear here.

Title and description

og: tags first, then twitter: tags and the page title as fallbacks, with an approximate length warning.

Missing og:image, relative paths, plain http and protocol-less URLs.

Image download

Whether it loads, whether it is really an image, its size in bytes and its pixel size.

Card layout

twitter:card for X, the 401 px thumbnail cutoff for LinkedIn and the card Bluesky returns.

Post it to X, LinkedIn and Bluesky at once

Once the preview looks right, write the post once in OpenTweet and schedule it to all three networks, each checked against that network's limits.

Link Preview Checker FAQ

What does a link preview checker do?

It fetches a page the way a social crawler does, reads the Open Graph and Twitter Card tags, and shows the card each platform would build from them. This one also downloads the preview image to check that it loads, its file size and its pixel size, and lists any redirects on the way.

Which tags control a link preview?

Open Graph tags do most of the work: og:title, og:description, og:image and og:url. LinkedIn's help center lists those four. X also reads twitter:card to pick the layout, and twitter:title, twitter:description and twitter:image when you want X to show something different.

Why does my link show a different preview on each platform?

Each platform fetches and caches the page on its own, at different times, and lays the card out differently. One may still hold an old cached version, and X uses twitter: tags where they exist. Check the tags here, then refresh the cached copy on the platform that is out of date.

Why is the preview image missing?

Usually the og:image tag is missing, uses a relative path, returns an error or a login page, or the file is too large. A firewall that blocks crawlers has the same effect. The checks list names the exact cause for your URL.

How is the Bluesky card checked?

Your browser asks cardyb.bsky.app, the card service the Bluesky app uses while you write a post, for this URL's card, and the checker shows what it returns. Bluesky's record format caps a link card thumbnail at 1,000,000 bytes, so the checker flags larger images.

Is the checker free and does it need a login?

Yes, it is free and needs no login or social account. It fetches only the URL you enter and the image that page points to, up to 20 checks an hour.

Will a link I schedule in OpenTweet show a card?

On X, yes: X reads the link in the post text and builds the card itself. On LinkedIn and Bluesky the publishing app has to attach the card data, and OpenTweet publishes text with optional images there, so the link shows in the text without a card. Attach an image when you want a visual on every platform.
