How to create beautiful tweet screenshots

OpenTweet's Screenshots feature turns tweets into beautiful, shareable images with custom backgrounds, gradients, and styling options. Use them for cross-platform sharing, blog posts, presentations, or social media content.

Creating a screenshot

There are two ways to create a screenshot:

  • From the Chrome extension — Click the "Screenshot" button on any tweet while browsing X. The tweet data is sent to OpenTweet's editor.
  • Manually — Go to the Screenshots page, click "New," and paste the tweet content.

Customizing the design

The screenshot editor offers extensive styling options:

  • Background presets — Choose from gradient presets (blue, purple, sunset, etc.) or solid colors.
  • Custom colors — Pick any color or gradient for the background.
  • Image backgrounds — Upload a custom image as the background.
  • Aspect ratios — Square (1:1), portrait (9:16), or original proportions.
  • Card theme — Light or dark card appearance.
  • Toggle elements — Show or hide the author avatar, engagement metrics, and watermark.
  • Padding — Small, medium, or large padding around the tweet card.

Exporting

  • Download as PNG — High-quality 2x resolution image file.
  • Copy to clipboard — Paste directly into other apps.
  • Save as draft — Creates a new OpenTweet draft with the screenshot attached as media.

Gallery

All your screenshots are saved in a gallery on the Screenshots page. Click any thumbnail to re-open it in the editor. Style changes are auto-saved.
