How to Create Beautiful Tweet Screenshots

OpenTweet's Screenshots feature turns any tweet into a beautifully styled image. Use it to share insights as visuals on Instagram, LinkedIn, or in newsletters — or to create branded content from your own tweets.

How do I create a screenshot?

Two methods: click the Screenshot button on any tweet while browsing X with the Chrome extension installed — this sends the tweet data directly to your Screenshots editor. Or go to the Screenshots page in OpenTweet, click New, and paste tweet content manually. Both methods open the full editor where you can customize the design before exporting.

What customization options are available?

The screenshot editor offers: Background (gradient presets in blue, purple, sunset, and more; solid color with color picker; custom image upload), Aspect ratio (square 1:1, portrait 9:16, landscape 16:9, or original proportions), Card theme (light or dark tweet card), Show/hide controls for avatar and engagement metrics, and Padding (small, medium, or large). Style changes auto-save as you edit.

How do I export my screenshot?

Three export options: Download as PNG at 2x retina resolution, Copy to clipboard for direct pasting, or Save as draft post which uploads the PNG to your media storage and creates a new draft tweet with the screenshot attached. All exports use the modern-screenshot library for pixel-perfect rendering.

Where are my screenshots saved?

All screenshots you create are saved in a gallery on the Screenshots page. Click any thumbnail to reopen it in the editor for re-editing or re-exporting. Screenshots persist in your account indefinitely. The gallery shows a preview thumbnail, the tweet author, and creation date for easy browsing.
