Bluesky Best Time to Post
Find your Bluesky best time to post from your own history. Enter a handle and see a weekday by hour heatmap of the engagement your public posts earned. No login.
When is the best time to post on Bluesky?
There is no single best time for everyone. Enter your handle and this tool reads your public Bluesky posts and shows which weekday and hour earned the most engagement for you.
How the Bluesky best time to post is worked out
Generic posting-time charts average many accounts together. Your followers are not an average, so this tool uses only your own posts. It reads your recent top-level posts from Bluesky's public API, places each one in the weekday and hour it was published in your time zone, and scores it by likes plus reposts plus replies plus quotes.
Each cell shows the mean score and the number of posts behind it. The top slots favour cells with at least two posts, so one lucky post does not win on its own. Replies, reposts, posts under a day old and imported posts with backdated timestamps are left out.
Keep two limits in mind. The heatmap only knows the hours you actually posted, so an hour you never tried shows grey rather than bad. And engagement also depends on what you posted, not only when. Try a new slot for a few weeks, then run the check again.
Posting on X too? The best time to post on Twitter guide covers X, and the Twitter heatmap does the same weekday by hour analysis for your X account inside OpenTweet.
Schedule Bluesky posts into your best slots
OpenTweet schedules posts to Bluesky over atproto OAuth, with no App Password, and sends the same draft to X and LinkedIn. Use this tool to pick the times, then queue a week of posts in one sitting.
7-day free trial, then from $11.99/month. Bluesky and LinkedIn on every plan.
Bluesky Best Time to Post FAQ
What is the best time to post on Bluesky?
There is no single best time for everyone. It depends on when your own followers are online, which depends on their time zones and habits. This tool reads your public Bluesky posts and shows which weekday and hour earned the most engagement for your account.
Does it need me to log in?
No. It uses Bluesky's public API (public.api.bsky.app), which returns the same posts anyone can see while logged out. You never enter a password or an App Password.
Is my data stored?
No. Your browser asks Bluesky for the posts and builds the heatmap on your device. Nothing about the handle or its posts is sent to OpenTweet or saved anywhere.
Why does it show only a few posts?
It reads up to 500 recent items from your profile feed and keeps only your own top-level posts. Reposts count toward those 500 items but are left out of the score, replies are not fetched, posts less than a day old are skipped because they are still collecting engagement, and imported posts whose date is far from when Bluesky received them are skipped too. With fewer than 30 posts, most cells rest on one or two posts, so treat the result as a hint.
How is engagement scored?
Each post scores its likes plus reposts plus replies plus quotes. Every cell shows the mean score of the posts published in that weekday and hour, along with how many posts it is based on. Views are not part of the score because Bluesky's public API does not return view counts.
Which time zone does the heatmap use?
Your browser's time zone. If your audience lives somewhere else, keep in mind that the hours shown are your local hours, which is also how you would schedule.
Why does it say the account cannot be shown?
Bluesky lets people ask apps not to show their account to logged-out visitors. When a profile carries that request, this tool stops and reads nothing. If it is your own account, you can switch the setting off in Bluesky, run the check, then switch it back on.
Can OpenTweet schedule my Bluesky posts for these times?
Yes. OpenTweet schedules posts to Bluesky, X and LinkedIn from one draft, connecting to Bluesky over atproto OAuth with no App Password. It does not calculate Bluesky best times for you, that is what this free tool is for. Plans start at $11.99/month with a 7-day free trial.
