RSS to Twitter Preview

Before you set up RSS to Twitter automation, see what it will post. This free tool validates your feed and shows its newest items as X, Bluesky and LinkedIn posts.

What will my RSS feed look like on X?

Paste your feed URL to see how its newest items would look as posts on X, Bluesky and LinkedIn, with each platform's character count. OpenTweet can then post new items to X automatically.

Use {title}, {url} and {description} (the first 200 characters of the item). These are the same variables OpenTweet's RSS connector uses in template mode.

Reads the feed once when you click. Never touches X, and nothing is posted.

RSS to Twitter, Bluesky and LinkedIn: what each one counts

NetworkLimitHow a link counts
X280 weighted characters23, whatever its length
Bluesky300 graphemes and 3,000 bytesFull length when sent through the API
LinkedIn3,000 charactersFull length

A {title} {url} post with a long headline can fit X and still run over on Bluesky, because the link costs more there. Check the Bluesky column before you cross-post.

Fix these before you automate a feed

Missing links

Without a <link> on each item, {url} is empty and the post points nowhere.

Missing or broken dates

Without a pubDate (RSS) or updated date (Atom), readers cannot tell which item is newest.

Duplicate GUIDs

Two items with one guid look like one item, so the second never gets posted.

HTML in titles

Tags such as <b> inside a title can show up as literal text in some readers.

Where the RSS connector posts

OpenTweet's RSS connector posts new feed items to X. It does not post to Bluesky or LinkedIn. To share an item there too, pick those networks on the post in the composer, or set the platforms field in the REST API. Connector posts that carry a link count toward your plan's link posts: 10 a day on Advanced, 20 on Agency, and none included on Pro. When none are left, the connector posts the item without its link.

Post new feed items to X automatically

Add your feed as an RSS connector in OpenTweet. It finds the feed from your site address, turns each new item into a post with AI or your template, and schedules it on X. Cross-post any of them to Bluesky and LinkedIn from the composer.

RSS to Twitter FAQ

How do I post an RSS feed to Twitter automatically?

Connect the feed to a tool that checks it for new items and turns each one into a post. In OpenTweet, an RSS connector takes a feed or a site address, finds the feed, and turns new items into X posts, either written by AI or filled from a template with {title}, {url} and {description}. Posts can be scheduled automatically or kept as drafts to review.

Can I send an RSS feed to Bluesky or LinkedIn?

OpenTweet's RSS connector posts to X only. To get the same item onto Bluesky and LinkedIn, pick those networks on the post in the OpenTweet composer, or set the platforms field when you create the post through the REST API. This preview shows how each item would look on all three before you choose.

What does this RSS feed validator check?

It reads the feed once and reports the format (RSS, Atom, RDF or JSON), the item count and the last update. It flags an empty feed, items without a link or a readable date, item IDs that appear more than once, HTML tags inside titles, relative links and a feed whose newest item is over 90 days old.

Why is the character count different on X, Bluesky and LinkedIn?

Each network counts differently. On X every link counts as 23 characters, whatever its length, and the limit is 280. On Bluesky a link sent through the API counts at its full length, and the limit is 300 graphemes and 3,000 bytes. On LinkedIn a link counts at full length against 3,000 characters.

Why do duplicate GUIDs matter?

Feed automations decide what is new by each item's ID: its guid in RSS, its id in Atom, or its link when neither exists. When two items share an ID, the second looks like something already posted and is skipped. Give every item its own permanent guid.

Does X or LinkedIn have an RSS feed?

No. Neither X nor LinkedIn publishes an RSS feed for profiles or posts, so there is no official Twitter RSS to subscribe to. To post about your own content, point an automation at your blog, newsletter, podcast or YouTube channel feed instead.

Why can this tool not read my feed?

It only reads public https addresses, up to 5 MB, and gives up after about 25 seconds. Private or internal addresses are refused, as are responses that are not text, such as images or PDFs. If you pasted a site address and no feed was found, paste the feed address itself, often ending in /feed, /rss or /feed.xml.

Does this tool post anything or save my feed?

No. It reads the feed when you click the button and shows the result on this page. Nothing is posted and nothing is saved to an account.
