Twitter Thread to LinkedIn Post

Turn an X thread into text for one LinkedIn post, exactly as OpenTweet would publish it. Or go the other way and split a LinkedIn post into a Bluesky thread.

How does an X thread become a LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn has no threads, so an X thread becomes one post. OpenTweet joins the parts with a blank line and checks the result against LinkedIn's 3,000-character limit. Hashtags and @mentions publish as plain text via OpenTweet. Paste a thread here to get that exact post, with 1/5 numbering and the thread emoji removed if you want.

Read as 4 parts

Your LinkedIn post

LinkedIn characters (UTF-16 code units)277 / 3,000

2,723 left

Writing for three networks does not mean writing three times. X gives you 280 characters per post, and a link always costs 23.Roughly here: "...see more" on desktop. Mobile usually cuts earlier. LinkedIn publishes no official number.Bluesky gives you 300, and a link costs its full length. #bluesky LinkedIn gives you 3,000, so the whole thread fits in one post. Tell @yourfriend.

Hashtags and @mentions go out as plain text via OpenTweet. This post has 1 hashtag and 1 mention, which will show as written but will not link.

OpenTweet joins thread parts with a blank line, exactly like this preview. It keeps each part as written, so the numbering removed here would stay in if you schedule the original thread.

X thread to text, the rules this follows

How the thread is read

If two or more lines start with numbering like 1/ or (2/5), each of those starts a new part. Otherwise every paragraph separated by a blank line is one part.

How the parts are joined

Each part is trimmed, empty parts are dropped, and the rest are joined with one blank line. That is the same join OpenTweet uses when a thread targets LinkedIn.

How it is counted

In UTF-16 code units against 3,000, the strictest reading of LinkedIn's limit. Most emoji count as 2 and links count at full length.

What LinkedIn shows first

Roughly the first 2 to 3 lines, around 200 characters on desktop and fewer on mobile. The first tweet of a thread is usually its hook, which is where it needs to be.

Write the thread once, publish it everywhere

OpenTweet does this on publish: the thread goes out as native reply threads on X and Bluesky and as one post on your LinkedIn profile, from one draft or one API call.

Thread to LinkedIn post FAQ

How do I turn a Twitter thread into a LinkedIn post?

Paste the thread with one tweet per paragraph, or with each tweet starting with numbering like 1/ or 2/5. The tool trims each part, joins them with a blank line, and counts the result against LinkedIn's 3,000 characters. Copy it and post it, or publish the thread through OpenTweet and it does the same join for you.

Why does OpenTweet turn a thread into one LinkedIn post?

LinkedIn has no threads, only a post and its comments. When a thread targets LinkedIn, OpenTweet publishes one post with the parts joined by a blank line, while the same thread goes out as native reply threads on X and Bluesky.

Does OpenTweet remove thread numbering like 1/5?

No. OpenTweet publishes each part as you wrote it, so numbering and a thread emoji you leave in will appear in the LinkedIn post. This tool removes them for you when the toggle is on. Remove them before scheduling if you do not want them on LinkedIn.

Do hashtags and @mentions work on LinkedIn through OpenTweet?

They publish as plain text via OpenTweet, not as clickable hashtags or tagged people. The words appear exactly as written. If a clickable mention matters for a particular post, publish that one from LinkedIn directly.

Will a long thread fit in one LinkedIn post?

Usually. Ten full 280-character tweets plus the blank lines between them come to about 2,800 characters, close to the 3,000 limit. Links count at their full length on LinkedIn instead of 23, and most emoji count as 2 in this count, so a link-heavy thread can go over sooner.

How do I turn a LinkedIn post into a Bluesky thread?

Switch to the LinkedIn post to Bluesky thread tab and paste the post. It is split at sentence boundaries into posts of up to 300 graphemes and 3,000 bytes, never inside a link, with optional 1/3 numbering counted in each post.

Can I post one thread to X, Bluesky and LinkedIn at once?

Yes, with one OpenTweet draft or one API call. X and Bluesky get native threads and LinkedIn gets one combined post on your personal profile. Company pages are not supported. From $11.99/mo, with Bluesky and LinkedIn on every plan.
