Twitter Image Downloader

Paste a link to any public X post and download its photos in full original quality. GIFs and videos too. No login, no watermark, nothing to install.

Works with x.com, twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com links. Public posts only. No login, no watermark.

How to download a Twitter image in full size

Copy the post link, paste it above and press Download next to Original. The timeline shows a resized copy of each photo; the original lives at the same pbs.twimg.com address with name=orig on the end. This tool requests that version for every photo in the post, up to four, plus any photos in a quoted post.

Twitter image sizes: which one you get

name= valueLongest sideWhere X uses it
thumb150px (cropped square)Small thumbnails
small680pxTimeline on phones, image previews
medium1200pxTimeline on desktop
large2048pxThe photo viewer when you tap an image
origAs stored from the uploadNowhere by default. This is what the tool downloads.

Photos keep the format they were uploaded in, usually JPG, sometimes PNG. A PNG with transparency stays a PNG. X re-encodes uploads, so the original is the best copy X has, not always the exact file the author picked.

Other ways to save X photos

Desktop, by hand

Open the photo, right-click, Open image in new tab. In the address bar, change name=small or name=medium to name=orig, press Enter, then right-click and Save image as.

iPhone

Long-press a photo in the X app and tap Save Photo. For the original, paste the link here in Safari, download, then in Files tap Share, Save Image.

Android

Twitter Image Downloader FAQ

How do I download images from Twitter (X)?

Copy the post link (Share, then Copy link), paste it into the box on this page and press Get media. Every photo in the post shows up with a Download button that saves the original file. No account, no app and no extension are needed.

Does this download Twitter images in full original quality?

Yes. The tool asks X for the name=orig version of each photo, which is the largest copy X stores, at the resolution it kept from the upload. The default image you see in the timeline is a resized copy, so right-click saving from the feed usually gives you a smaller file.

What does name=orig mean in a Twitter image URL?

X serves every photo from pbs.twimg.com in several sizes picked by the name parameter: small (680px max), medium (1200px max), large (2048px max) and orig, the stored original. Changing name=small or name=medium to name=orig in the address bar opens the full-size image. This tool does that for you.

Can I download all images from a tweet at once?

A post can carry up to four photos and the tool lists all of them, plus the photos of a quoted post. Each one has its own Download button, so you can save them one after another.

How do I save a Twitter GIF?

X converts every GIF to a silent MP4 video when it is posted, so there is no GIF file to download. The tool saves that MP4. To get a .gif again, convert it, for example with ffmpeg: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "fps=15,scale=480:-1" output.gif.

Why can a post not be found?

The tool reads posts the way a logged-out visitor sees them. Deleted posts, posts from protected (private) accounts and posts X marks as sensitive or age-restricted are not visible without a login, so their media cannot be read.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any mobile browser. On iPhone, Safari saves the file to Files, then Downloads; open it and tap Share, then Save Image to put it in Photos. On Android, Chrome saves to the Downloads folder and the image shows up in your gallery.

Is it legal to download images from Twitter?

Downloading for personal use is generally fine. The copyright stays with whoever took the photo, so reposting it, using it commercially or removing credit needs the owner's permission. When you share it, credit and link the original post.
