Can Claude Duet post to X?

Not on its own. Claude Duet, the proactive agent Anthropic opened on October 21, 2026, has no X connector. It works through the apps you have already connected in Claude, and none of the ones Anthropic lists can publish a post. To post to X, Claude needs a connector with a posting tool, like the OpenTweet MCP connector.

One thing is still open: Anthropic has not said whether custom connectors carry over into Duet. They do work in Claude chat, Cowork and Claude Desktop today, so you can set up posting now and Duet can use it if Anthropic turns that on. Facts below come from Anthropic's Duet help article and product page.

Claude Duet in one table

Duet is a separate app, not a mode inside chat. It starts each morning with a brief from your email and calendar, follows up on threads that went quiet, and takes on tasks you send it. It brings over your memory, skills and app connections from your Claude account.

Every route from Duet to an X post

An agent can only do what its tools let it do. Here is each way Duet could reach X, and where it stands on October 24, 2026.

Route
Works?
Why
Built-in X connector
No
None of the connectors Anthropic lists for Duet can publish to X.
Custom connector added in Claude
Not documented yet

Duet's cloud browser on x.com
Not recommended
You cannot watch or take over the browser, and X logins and layout changes break it.
Same connector in Claude chat or Cowork
Yes, today
Ask in a chat, or let Cowork run the task. Every plan, Free included (one custom connector).
Claude Code or a scheduled routine
Yes, today
For posts that should go out on a schedule without you opening an app.

Set up posting in Claude (3 minutes)

This adds the connector to your Claude account. It works in chat and Cowork right away, and it is the connection Duet would use if it picks up custom connectors.

  1. Start an OpenTweet account and connect your X account (and LinkedIn or Bluesky if you want them).
  2. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector. On some plans the menu is Customize, Connectors, Add, Custom, Web.
  3. Name it OpenTweet and paste the URL below. Leave the OAuth fields empty.
  4. Select Connect and sign in to OpenTweet when the window opens. Approve the access request.

Claude now has 43 tools, including opentweet_create_tweet (draft), opentweet_schedule_tweet, opentweet_publish_tweet, opentweet_create_thread and read tools like opentweet_list_tweets and opentweet_get_analytics. No X developer account, no API billing.

Test it read-only first

Ask Claude: "List my OpenTweet accounts and what is scheduled this week. Do not change anything." Then: "Save one draft about our launch, do not schedule it." Check the draft in your OpenTweet queue before you let it schedule or publish.

What to ask Duet once it can see the connector

Duet is built around watching your apps and bringing you decisions, which suits a drafts-first posting flow. If the OpenTweet connector shows up in your Duet settings, these are good first tasks:

  • "Every morning, include what is scheduled on X today in my brief, and flag anything that failed."
  • "When a customer thanks us in Gmail, draft an X post about it and save it as a draft in OpenTweet."
  • "Turn this week's changelog in Drive into three posts and schedule them for Tuesday to Thursday at 9am."
  • "Every Friday, pull my top posts from OpenTweet analytics and tell me what worked."

Because Duet asks before it sends anything, expect an approval for a publish. Scheduling to OpenTweet gives you a second check: the post sits in your queue, where you can edit or delete it before the time comes.

Usage counts against your Claude plan

Duet's background checks use your Pro or Max limits at the same rate as chats. A daily posting task is light, but a brief that also reads analytics every morning adds up. OpenTweet itself is a flat $19.99 a month on Pro ($29 on Advanced for 3 X accounts), with no per-post fee.

7-day free trial with a few limits, or pay now for full limits.

If you are not in Duet yet

Duet is US-only, Pro and Max only, and opens in waves. Everything above works without it:

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude Duet post to X?

Not on its own. Anthropic's list of Duet connectors (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, Calendly, plus Stripe, Link and Shop Pay) has no X connector. Duet uses the apps you have connected in Claude, so it can only post to X through a connector that has a posting tool, such as the OpenTweet MCP connector.

What is Claude Duet?

A proactive agent app from Anthropic, opened as a research preview on October 21, 2026. It sends a morning brief, keeps watch over your connected apps, takes on tasks by message and runs them on its own cloud computer, and asks before it sends a message, pays, signs a document or deletes anything. It runs on Claude Opus 5.5.

Who can use Claude Duet?

Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, through a waitlist that opens in waves. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet. There is no separate price: Duet uses your plan's usage limits, including the five-hour and weekly limits, and background work like the morning brief counts too.

Does Claude Duet support custom connectors?

Anthropic has not said. The Duet help article says it "can use the apps you've already connected in Claude" and names only directory connectors. Custom connectors (remote MCP servers) work in Claude chat, Cowork and Claude Desktop on every plan. If a custom connector you added in Claude shows up in Duet, Duet can use its tools. We will update this page when Anthropic documents it.

Will Duet post without asking me?

Anthropic says Duet is designed to ask before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document or deletes anything. If you are away, it finishes the rest of the task and brings the approval back to you later. For posting, the safest setup is to have it save drafts or schedule posts in OpenTweet, so nothing goes live until you check the queue.

Can Duet just log in to x.com in its browser?

Duet has a cloud browser, but Anthropic says you cannot watch it work there or take it over, and X login challenges and layout changes break browser automation without warning. A connector with a real posting tool fails with a readable error instead, and leaves a record of every post.

How do I let Claude post to X today?

Add OpenTweet as a custom connector in Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, URL https://mcp.opentweet.io/mcp, then sign in to OpenTweet when asked. Claude gets 43 tools to draft, schedule, publish and thread on X (plus LinkedIn and Bluesky), with no X developer account. OpenTweet Pro is $19.99 a month.

Give Claude a posting tool

One connector URL. Claude drafts, schedules and publishes to X, LinkedIn and Bluesky, and you approve from the queue.
