Which personal AI agents can post to X?
None of them out of the box. Four personal agents launched between August and October 2026: Grok Bot, Meta Muse, ChatGPT dots and Claude Duet. None has an X connector that can publish. Grok Bot and Claude can post once you add a custom connector with posting tools. ChatGPT dots can too, but only on Business Premium and Enterprise. Claude Duet hasn't confirmed custom connectors yet, and Meta Muse has no documented route.
The connector in every working case is the same: an MCP server that holds your X connection and exposes draft, schedule and publish tools. OpenTweet's is at https://mcp.opentweet.io/mcp, with 43 tools and OAuth sign-in.
Side by side
"Native X" is what the agent can do with X on its own. "Custom connectors" is whether you can add your own MCP server with tools that write.
Each agent, briefly
Grok Bot (xAI)
The only one of the four with an X connector, and the X connector (added August 29, 2026) only reads: search, your timeline, mentions. Grok Bot accepts custom MCP connectors, so adding OpenTweet gives it publishing and scheduling, and its routines can run on a timer. Routines run unattended, so have them schedule rather than publish. Setup: give Grok Bot the ability to post.
ChatGPT dots (OpenAI)
Always-on agents on GPT-6 Astra, each with its own cloud computer, announced at DevDay on September 29, 2026. A dot uses the plugins installed on your account and can run scheduled tasks. OpenAI allows custom MCP write actions only on Business and Enterprise/Edu, so a Pro dot can read your OpenTweet queue and analytics but not post. Details: can ChatGPT dots post to X.
Claude Duet (Anthropic)
A proactive agent app opened on October 21, 2026 for Pro and Max in the US. It sends a morning brief, watches your connected apps and asks before it sends, pays, signs or deletes. It uses the apps connected in Claude. Anthropic names only directory connectors and has not said whether custom connectors carry over. Details: can Claude Duet post to X.
Meta Muse (Meta)
Launched as a personal agent on September 8, 2026, with a small-business version on September 29 that reads Instagram professional analytics, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts, and connects to tools like Canva, Shopify, QuickBooks, Klaviyo and Slack. It is free for most uses in the US and Canada. Meta says Muse supports custom connectors, but has not published how to build one or whether they speak MCP, and X is not on its list. Until that changes, Muse is the wrong tool for posting to X.
The route that works everywhere it is allowed
Every working setup above is the same three steps: connect your X account to OpenTweet, addhttps://mcp.opentweet.io/mcp as a custom connector, and sign in. The agent gets draft, schedule, publish, thread and analytics tools for X, LinkedIn and Bluesky, with no X developer account.Which one to pick for posting
- You want posts on a timer with no app open: Grok Bot routines, or a Claude routine. Both can schedule into OpenTweet.
- You want an assistant that drafts from your email and docs: Claude chat or Cowork today, Duet once it supports your connector.
- Your company is on ChatGPT Business Premium or Enterprise: a dot with the OpenTweet plugin, with a custom rule to ask before posting.
- You run Instagram and Facebook ads: Muse for Meta's side, plus a separate tool for X.
OpenTweet is flat-fee: Pro $19.99 a month for one X account, Advanced $29 for 3, Agency $49 for 10, with the API and MCP server on every plan.

Frequently asked questions
Which personal AI agent can post to X?
None of them posts to X out of the box. With a custom MCP connector that has posting tools, Grok Bot can post on its normal plans and Claude can in chat, Cowork and Claude Code on every plan. ChatGPT dots can post only on Business Premium and Enterprise, because Pro limits custom MCP servers to read and fetch. Claude Duet has not confirmed custom connectors, and Meta Muse has no documented way to post to X.
Can Meta Muse post to X?
Not in any documented way. Muse connects to Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, Meta ad accounts and tools like Canva, Shopify, Slack and Stripe. Meta says Muse supports custom connectors for services it does not offer yet, but has not published how they are built or whether they use MCP. Meta does not list X.
Can Grok Bot post to X?
Not with its built-in X connector, which reads posts, your timeline and mentions but has no publishing tool. Add a custom connector at grok.com/connectors pointing at https://mcp.opentweet.io/mcp, and Grok Bot can draft, schedule and publish, including from scheduled routines.
Can Claude Duet post to X?
Not on its own. Duet uses the apps connected in your Claude account, and none of the connectors Anthropic lists for it can publish to X. Anthropic has not said whether custom connectors carry into Duet. The same OpenTweet connector works in Claude chat and Cowork today.
Why not let the agent use X in its own browser?
Duet, dots and Muse all have cloud browsers, but browser posting breaks on X login challenges and layout changes, often while the agent reports success. A connector with a posting tool fails with a clear error and leaves a record of every post in your queue.
Do these agents need an X developer account to post?
Not through OpenTweet. OpenTweet holds the X connection and the agent signs in to OpenTweet over OAuth. Calling the X API yourself needs a developer app, OAuth 2.0 and pay-per-use billing: $0.015 a post, $0.20 a post with a link.
Do they all ask before posting?
All four have approval gates. Claude Duet asks before it sends a message, pays, signs or deletes. Dots follow custom rules (ask, pre-approved, or hand off). Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without approval. Grok routines run unattended, so have them schedule into the OpenTweet queue rather than publish.
