LinkedIn Post Inspector Alternative

Like LinkedIn Post Inspector, this tool shows the preview your link gets on LinkedIn. It also tells you why the image or title is wrong, and draws the X and Bluesky cards beside it. No login.

Why a LinkedIn link preview is not working

LinkedIn builds the preview from your page's og:title, og:image, og:description and og:url tags, then caches it. A missing or unreachable og:image, a firewall that blocks crawlers, or an old cached preview are the usual causes. Check the tags here, fix them, then refresh the cache in Post Inspector.

Your previews and the checks appear here.

How LinkedIn builds a link preview

When you paste a link into a LinkedIn post, LinkedIn fetches the page and reads four Open Graph tags. Its help page Make your website shareable on LinkedIn lists them, along with the image requirements below.

TagWhat it sets
og:titleThe bold headline on the card
og:imageThe picture, as a full https:// URL
og:descriptionA sentence or two about the page
og:urlThe canonical address of the page
Image ruleLinkedIn's figure
Minimum size1200 x 627 px
Recommended ratio1.91:1
Maximum file size5 MB
Narrower than 401 pxShown as a thumbnail

Figures quoted from LinkedIn's help center on October 10, 2026. LinkedIn changes its layout over time, so the card in the checker is an approximate drawing, not a screenshot.

LinkedIn preview unavailable or showing the old image

LinkedIn stores the preview the first time a URL is shared. Its help article Use Post Inspector to refresh URL explains that if you shared the same URL before, the image may already be in the cache, so fixing your tags does not change the preview on its own. To refresh it:

  1. Fix the tags until every check in the tool above passes.
  2. Open LinkedIn Post Inspector and enter the same URL.
  3. Confirm the preview shows the new image and title, then share the link.

Old posts keep the old preview

LinkedIn says the refresh only affects new posts that include the URL. A post you already published keeps the preview it had, so delete and repost it if the old image matters.

This tool or LinkedIn Post Inspector?

Use this checker to find the cause

No login. It downloads your og:image and reports its bytes and pixels, lists every redirect, flags a page that refuses crawlers, and shows the X and Bluesky cards beside LinkedIn's. For a closer look at one platform, use the X card validator or the Bluesky link preview checker.

Use Post Inspector to refresh LinkedIn

Only LinkedIn can update its own cache. Once the checks here pass, enter the URL in Post Inspector so the next post that includes it uses the new preview.

Links in posts published by an app

A preview card appears when you paste a link into LinkedIn's own composer. Posts created through LinkedIn's Posts API work differently: the API does not fetch the URL, so the app has to supply the title, description and thumbnail itself. OpenTweet publishes LinkedIn posts as text with optional images, so a link in an OpenTweet LinkedIn post shows in the text rather than as a card. Attach an image if the post needs a visual.

Schedule the post to LinkedIn and X together

Write once in OpenTweet and send the same draft to LinkedIn, X and Bluesky, each checked against that network's limits. Schedule it for later or publish now, from the calendar or one API call.

7-day free trial, then from $11.99/mo. LinkedIn and Bluesky on every plan.

LinkedIn Post Inspector FAQ

What is the LinkedIn Post Inspector?

Post Inspector is LinkedIn's own tool at linkedin.com/post-inspector. You enter a URL and it shows the preview LinkedIn builds for it. LinkedIn's help center recommends it for refreshing a preview that still shows an old cached image.

Why use an alternative to LinkedIn Post Inspector?

This checker needs no LinkedIn login and goes further into the cause: it downloads your og:image and reports its size in bytes and pixels, follows every redirect, flags a page that blocks crawlers, and shows the X and Bluesky cards next to LinkedIn's. Use it to find the problem, then use Post Inspector to refresh LinkedIn's cache.

Why is my LinkedIn link preview not working?

The usual causes are a missing og:image tag, an image URL that is relative or returns an error, an image over 5 MB, a firewall or bot filter that blocks crawlers, or a preview LinkedIn cached before you fixed the tags. LinkedIn's help page also notes that a site can block LinkedIn from pulling the image.

Why does LinkedIn say preview unavailable or show no image?

LinkedIn could not get usable tags or an image from the page. Run the URL through the checker above. A red cross on the page status, the og:image tag or the image download points to the cause. If everything passes, the preview is probably cached, so refresh it in Post Inspector.

What image size does LinkedIn use for link previews?

LinkedIn's help page "Make your website shareable on LinkedIn" lists a minimum of 1200 x 627 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio and a 5 MB maximum file size. It also says images under 401 pixels wide display as a thumbnail. The checker compares your image against those numbers.

How do I refresh a LinkedIn link preview?

Open LinkedIn's Post Inspector, enter the URL and confirm the preview shows the right content. According to LinkedIn's help center, the refresh changes the preview for new posts that include the URL. Posts that were already published keep the old preview.

Does a link in a post scheduled through OpenTweet get a LinkedIn preview card?

No. LinkedIn's Posts API does not fetch the URL, so an app has to supply the title, description and thumbnail itself to make a link card. OpenTweet publishes LinkedIn posts as text with optional images, so the link appears in the text. Attach an image if you want a visual.

Does this tool fetch anything from LinkedIn?

No. It fetches only the URL you enter and the image it points to, with a crawler that identifies itself as OpenTweetBot. It never logs in to LinkedIn or reads linkedin.com, so it cannot see LinkedIn's cache. That part only Post Inspector can refresh.
