LinkedIn Engagement Rate Calculator

This free LinkedIn engagement rate calculator gives you a post's rate by impressions and by followers, and tells you which one to trust. Nothing is sent to LinkedIn or to us.

How LinkedIn engagement rate is calculated

LinkedIn engagement rate is a post's reactions, comments and reposts divided by its impressions, times 100. Use impressions for your own posts, since only the author sees them. For someone else's post, divide by their followers instead. Enter the numbers below and the calculator shows both rates.

Fill in impressions, followers or both. Results update as you type.

Engagement rate by impressions

0%

Add reactions, comments or reposts, and impressions.

Use this for your own posts. It judges the post by the people who actually saw it.

Engagement rate by followers

0%

Add reactions, comments or reposts, and followers.

Use this to compare with posts you did not write, where impressions are not visible.

Two LinkedIn engagement rate formulas

By impressions

(reactions + comments + reposts) / impressions x 100

The better measure of a single post. A post that LinkedIn showed well beyond your followers is not punished for its reach, and a post few people saw is not flattered by a big follower count.

By followers

(reactions + comments + reposts) / followers x 100

The only option when you see just the public numbers, such as a competitor's post. It mixes reach and response into one number, so treat it as a rough comparison.

Keep the formula fixed

Rates by impressions and by followers can differ a lot for the same post. Choose one, use it for every post you track, and compare your posts with each other rather than with numbers from other sites.

Post consistently to LinkedIn, Bluesky and X

An engagement rate means more across a steady run of posts than for one. OpenTweet schedules one draft to your LinkedIn profile, X and Bluesky from one queue, so the posting pace does not depend on remembering.

LinkedIn Engagement Rate FAQ

How do you calculate LinkedIn engagement rate?

Add a post's reactions, comments and reposts, divide by its impressions and multiply by 100. That is the rate by impressions. The rate by followers uses the same top line but divides by the follower count instead. This calculator shows both.

Should I divide by impressions or by followers?

Use impressions for your own posts. It measures how many of the people who saw the post engaged, so a post that reached beyond your followers is judged fairly. Use followers when you only have public numbers, such as a competitor's post, because impressions are visible only to the author.

Where do I find impressions for a LinkedIn post?

Open the analytics for your own post on LinkedIn. Impressions are not shown on other people's posts, so you can only get them for posts you wrote. Copy the impressions, reactions, comments and reposts into the fields above.

Do impressions count the same person twice?

Yes. Impressions count every time the post was shown, so one person who sees it twice counts twice. A count of unique viewers is therefore the same or lower, and a rate divided by it comes out the same or higher. Either works if you pick one and stick with it.

Should other actions, like saves or link clicks, count as engagement?

This calculator uses reactions, comments and reposts because anyone can see them on a post, which keeps your rate comparable with other posts. If your own analytics show other actions and you choose to add them, add them every time.

What is a good LinkedIn engagement rate?

LinkedIn does not publish a benchmark, and we have no dataset we can cite, so this page does not grade your number. Rates differ by audience size, industry and format. The useful comparison is your own median rate across your recent posts.

Does this tool read my LinkedIn account?

No. It never connects to LinkedIn and fetches nothing. The maths runs in your browser on the numbers you type.

Can OpenTweet track my LinkedIn engagement?

No. OpenTweet publishes and schedules posts to your LinkedIn personal profile, X and Bluesky, but it does not read LinkedIn analytics back. Plans start at $11.99/mo with a 7-day free trial.
