LinkedIn Post Preview

See how your post will look in the LinkedIn feed before you publish it. Your line breaks are kept, the "...see more" fold is marked, and the 3,000 character count updates as you type. Nothing leaves your browser.

How line breaks are handled

LinkedIn keeps every line break you type, blank lines included, and OpenTweet sends the text unchanged. The preview renders it the same way. The cost is height: a one-word line and a blank line each use a full line, so a heavily spaced post reaches the fold with far fewer characters than a solid paragraph.

Your post is 13 lines, 4 of them blank.

The fold is an approximation

The exact point where LinkedIn shows "...see more" depends on the reader screen width, font size and the LinkedIn layout of the day. No preview page can know those. This tool approximates it by characters and line breaks: the earlier of about 200 characters, backed up to the nearest space, or the end of line 3. Mobile usually cuts sooner. Use it to decide where your hook goes, not as a measurement.

Writing for what shows above the fold

The first line decides the rest

Readers choose from the two or three lines above "...see more". Lead with the claim, the number or the question. Setup lines belong under the fold.

Spacing costs you characters

Three short lines with blanks between them can hit the fold in under 60 characters. Keep the opening tight if you want more of the argument visible.

3,000 is a ceiling, not a target

The limit leaves room for a full argument, but only the readers who already clicked will see it. Length rewards the ones your first line convinced.

Hashtags read as words here

Posted through OpenTweet, hashtags and @mentions publish as plain text. Write them so the sentence still reads correctly without the link.

Schedule the post you just previewed

OpenTweet schedules to your LinkedIn personal profile, with up to 4 images. LinkedIn has no scheduling API, so OpenTweet holds the post in its own queue and sends it at your time. The same draft can go to X and Bluesky, where a thread stays a thread and LinkedIn gets one combined post.

LinkedIn post preview FAQ

How will my LinkedIn post look before I post it?

Paste the post into the box above. The card on the right renders it the way the LinkedIn feed does: your name, your headline, the body with your line breaks kept, and a reaction bar underneath. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is published.

Where does LinkedIn cut a post to "...see more"?

Around the first 2 to 3 lines, roughly 200 characters on desktop and fewer on mobile. LinkedIn publishes no official number. Line breaks pull the cut earlier, because a one-word line still uses a full line of height.

How accurate is the fold marker in this tool?

It is an approximation, not the exact cut. The real fold depends on the reader screen width, font size and the LinkedIn layout of the day, none of which a preview page can know. This tool takes the earlier of about 200 characters, backed up to the nearest space, or the end of the third line. Treat it as a hint to move your hook up, not as a measurement.

What is the LinkedIn post character limit?

A LinkedIn post can be up to 3,000 characters, and spaces and line breaks count. The counter here measures UTF-16 code units, the strictest reading, so most emoji cost 2 and combined ones cost more. Text that fits here will not be over however LinkedIn counts it.

Do line breaks and blank lines survive on LinkedIn?

Yes. LinkedIn keeps the line breaks you type, including the blank lines between paragraphs, and OpenTweet sends the text unchanged. The preview renders them the same way. Remember that each blank line uses a full line of height, so heavy spacing reaches the fold sooner.

Do hashtags and @mentions stay clickable when OpenTweet publishes?

No. OpenTweet publishes them as plain text, so the words appear exactly as written but are not links. It changes how the post reads, so put hashtags where plain words still make sense. If a clickable mention matters for one post, publish that one from LinkedIn directly.

What can OpenTweet post to LinkedIn?

Text posts to your LinkedIn personal profile, with up to 4 images. Company pages, video and PDF carousels are not supported. LinkedIn has no scheduling API, so OpenTweet holds the post in its own queue and sends it at the time you picked. The same draft can go to X and Bluesky, where a thread stays a thread and LinkedIn gets one combined post.
